Drama Performance Postponed

Cinderella has been postponed till April 2, 2006 @7:00

Cinderella is Coming March 24th

St. Albans City School's annual Drama Club production this year is "Cinderella".
There will be two performances. March 23 @12:30pm for grades k-4
and March 24 @ 7:00pm for the general public. The 7th and 8th grade
art students designed and painted the sets for this fantastic fantasy
production. Please don't miss it. Here is a preview of what is to come

Spring Band News!!!!!

Hello to all,

The bands at City School will be pretty busy this spring. Currently there are several things coming up for instrumental music here at City. Here are the highlights:

March 28 (Tues) at 7:00 in cafeteria- Senior Band Concert (grades 7/8)
March 30 (Thurs) at 7:00 in cafeteria- Jr. Band Concert ( grade 6)
April 12 ( Wed) at 7:00 in cafeteria- Beginning Band Concert ( grade 5)

Other exciting things happening are as follows:

Troy Peters, conductor of the Vermont Youth Orchestra, will come to City School to work with the Senior band during the regular band class on March 23rd. This will be a great opportunity for the Senior band students to work with a nationally known conductor and composer. Troy Peters recently directed several City School alumni at the All New England Music Festival.

Also coming up will be the Lester Bowie Memorial Jazz Festival which is a day long workshop for Jazz Band members from City School, Town School, and Fairfield School. This will happen on Monday,April 10th. The day will culminate in an evening performance with the bands playing pieces that they worked on for the day, and will also have an appearance of the Joe Levesque Big Band directed by Frank Mehaffey. The concert will be in the cafeteria at 7pm on April 10th.

Art Show at St. Albans City Hall

The Art Dept. at City School has art work on display in The Franklin Central Supervisory Union Art Show at City Hall from Nov.8 through Nov. 10. The hours are 10:00am till 7:00pm each day. There will be a closing reception on Thursday Nov.10 from 5:30- 7:00.

City Kids Mural is installed at Burlington Airport

On Wednesday Oct. 19th a mural was installed at the Burlington International Airport. It was created last February 2005 by 35 City School 8th graders and finished in June 2005. The mural is 54'x10'. It was conceptualized by an airport architect and then the students took it from there and added their own ideas and images. Art teachers Kathi Brown,Tony Galle and Melissa Haberman spent 10 hours installing it. There will be a grand opening recognition ceremony Nov.21,2005 for all those students who are now 9th graders at BFA .

What's up in the ARTS????

It's been pretty hectic around here. All of us have been working on getting used to our schedules and classes. I think we are in full swing.




The Band Instruments are coming. Band Delivery night is tonight, Sept 28 at 6pm. There will be representatives from various music companies here to rent and sell instruments. Can't wait for Beginning Band to start.




The Art Department is working on getting pieces ready for the upcoming Art Show. There will be 3 Art Shows this year. The Art teachers and students work really hard to get this up and running. Come by and supports us. Look for dates in upcoming entries.
